What Technology Are You Grateful For?

DAY 2:

Well, I failed in posting my Day 2, of my 30 days gratitude challenge, yesterday. So here is my day 2. What Technology Are You Grateful For?

Recently I have been involved in live streaming of my early Monday morning musing ,with a little touch of Worship embedded in the streaming .I am so humbled by the traction accrued to this facebook live ,and the feeling that it gives me when I see the number of people watching and connecting as we love the Lord in worship, and I get to share some insight. That feeling is just way beyond words.

The Idea that people can connect and watch live streaming from anywhere across the globe regardless of their time zone is just so awesome.

Kindly tell me what technology you are excited about.

30 days of Gratitude November.

Hello Everyone, it great to be back here on WordPress. What a way to get my blogging groove back, sharing my gratitude for each day. I saw something that caught my fancy earlier today on Facebook and decided to use it as my writing inspiration- 30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE.

I am grateful for the smell of my children. I am a proud mother of two high-energy boys, who never let an opportunity of play slip by. When they go out to play and come home with sweat flowing off them like it raising to reach the mountain, off course they wipe the sweat with what ? Their clothes. That smell is a sign of their ability to run around, exercise  and a blessing of Motherhood.

They say you can tell much about a person by their smell because there  are many factors that affect how you smell at a given time- The gift of being alive and active on the playground is a great smell that I will forever be grateful for ?

May I ask you this same question , “what smell are you grateful for? I will be delighted to read your thoughts too.

The smell of sweat , the sweat of smell.

I am grateful for the blessing of smell.

Gratitude Thursday on Friday.

The exercise from Revofkindness this week was centred on gratitude . I wrote a  post on it, you can read it Here. I am someone who likes to thank you to almost everybody for almost anything. I got more and more serious with intentional gratitude when I started keeping a gratitude journal.

I learnt how to be grateful  for all situations, especially unpleasant ones,as I took my gratitude exercise further by meditating on the book of Psalms daily- It’s like a daily dose of thankfulness and gratitude .I take 5 doses daily.

Sometimes, last week I got from someone who had seen me performed somewhere many years back,She heard my songs and saw my book and wanted us to hook up, we tried scheduling a meet to no avail until she called again and ask if I was available and I said yes.

We arrange to meet, and I was supposed to go pick her up from her place to go to the Radio station where she co-anchor a program with her friend. I drove to her place one hour earlier than scheduled time. Because I have a mantra for punctuality, especially when I am not familiar with the route for my appointment. In this case, I didn’t know the route to her house and since I was driving myself I left home early.

She was surprise to see me, an hour before, so I explained to her and all that. I also met her friend and we got talking about my music and how long I have been in the game, all this was happening while my host was getting herself ready so we can head down to the radio station.

As we drove down , we got talking the more, and I knew I will be spending some quality time with this lady, because we just flowed seamlessly in conversation, and I could tell we have quite a few things in common. As we got to the radio station I remembered that I have been to that station once several years back .The memories came flashing fresh once again. We got up to the studio and as we were climbing the stairs I here one of my songs coming out from the airwaves- My friend said to me,’OBA, isn’t that one of your songs playing? I said yes!

Then she asked again,’how do you feel when you hear your songs been played on air? and I said I am always gratefl!

We got into the studio, and she introduced me to the anchor of the program, who was already position behind the machines. Guess what the program is called? Gratitude Thursday with Funmi& Didi.  I mean like seriously! Gratitude again!!

It’s a phone -in program where people call in, to talk about what they are grateful for,and make request or talk to guests on the show. For the next hour, It was really a fabulous time as people called in, to share their gratitude stories. One of the stories got my attention, One young lady called to say that she was grateful for the rain that fell, because she had tried all morning to buy water to fill the tank at home, but somehow the person that sells wasn’t around, and they did have water at home.

The rain fell heavily yesterday and because of that she was able to fill the tank and other buckets, she was excited about it, because that rain was an answer to the water problem she had at home.God works wonders even when it looked mundane or insignificant! some might think what’s the big deal with the rain, but to that lady that called in, it was help at the nick of time. Something to be grateful for.

Other people called in, to express gratitude for families, loved ones, for life and also commented on my music -I am for ever grateful that my skill and talent is making a huge impact and touching lives out there!

I am grateful that I made new friends yesterday, and made the whole crew of TopRadio90.9FM laugh themselves out with the comic side of me, we are laughed and laughed it was such a wonderful time. Because I was reminded again and again, I have every reason to be grateful.

I am grateful that I met amazing ladies touching lives and making impact within their sphere of influence- Yetunde Durand and Funmi Longe the hosts of ‘GratitudeThursday’.

Yesterday’s baby….Tomorrow’s Leading Man.

It’s the 4th of March

Yesterday’s boy

Is ten years today

Oh, how time flies.

I remember when I found out

That I was pregnant

I hated myself

I blamed God.

Why would he allow this?

We ‘re just barely getting by

And now another child

Lord, you must be messing with my mind.

No! I am not ready,

Can’t bear the pain all over again

I’ll  rather stay with one

But He had better plans.

Unlike the previous pregnancy

He was mild a little

I told myself, “This will be stress -free

So I walked into the Hospital.

Excuse me, I’m ready

Can we get this over with

With a little anaesthetic

I watched as the doctor

Cut me again from below.

Behold my little boy

looking so radiant and bright.

The Mini-me they say,

But with a mind of his own.

With great determination and enthusiasm watching his parents perform on stage. 2014@ Bogobiri.

We named him Wonderful

That’s what he’s been

My pride and joy

Wonderfully and fearfully made.

My Personal P.A

Mr drummer extraordinaire

Yesterday’s baby

Tomorrow’s valiant Man.

Happy 10th birthday to my great son Wonderful Adekolajo Oluwasetire Adeyemi.

The Word of King David in Psalms 18:29, Keep ringing in my heart as we enter a new month. Wow, I can’t believe it’s the 3rd Month already. Time indeed is ticking away.

Thanks be to God who always cause us to triumph in his name. It’s been a wonderful journey so far, and I am thankful to God for the grace to leap in every sense of the word.

As time keep passing, and as it gradually ticks away, I am leaping into a new realm and scaling through troops.  My prayers for you as well is that you will into all that God in his infinite mercies has programmed for your advancement and by His strength you will scale through every wall and any wall that may want to stand between your here and there.

Welcome to a new day

Welcome to the beginning of another 31 days

To live with purpose and Intentionality

To bless and be a blessing

To let your life be an expression of God’s grace

To let your hands be an extension of His Love

To seize every moment and make everything count

Whatsoever your hands find to do, Do it as unto the Lord.

Welcome to March, marching through, and leaping, to advancement and success on all sides.

Reading Fictions.. C’mon!

I never thought that I will ever read fiction books again, but ever since this whole thing with blogging began, how i have come across some many wonderful writers and bloggers ,with the way the weave words and story together. I have been thinking about how nice it would be to start reading them again.. Some one once said that one of the ways to be become great at what you do, is to find out how others are doing what are trying to do.

The last time I read anything close to fiction was thirty-something years ago. It’s been like forever, way back in secondary school when me and friends used to hang out with Mill&Boons, Hallequine Romance and James Hardly Chase.

You are regarded as a cool dude,if you got one of those books back then. But after my secondary school days, the fiction story adventure ended. I never got back to reading anything near fiction again.

I have a library filled with all kinds of books ranging from music to public speaking, leadership, relationship, managerial to Christian living and lifestyle, not one fiction book.

Yesterday I went driving round my neighborhood with a friend of mine, and I decided to do some shopping at a nearby mall. After picking all that I wanted , there was a particular item missing ,I made enquiry and was told to go to the first floor of the mall. As I made my way around the upper section of the mall ,I came across the book section, and found some interesting books with interesting price tags n them :D.

I found some great  books there and thought to myself,” It would be a great idea to pick one of this fictions novels”

finding Ava

I mean if you want to improve your writing skills, pick one of them books right now – There I pick this one Kathy Rodgers ,Finding Ava. It was love at first sight, there was this gushing rush of emotion I felt, First it is the first book I am buying in the new year, and it is different from all the other genres that I am familiar with.

Its Wednesday gratitude challenge with Collines blog. I am grateful that finally I got over my fears about fictions or romance novel *whispering*(I always thought it was ‘unchristian’ to read stories on romance, adventures and fictions generally). I am grateful for the desire to grow as a writer and get out of my comfort zone-safe haven and plunge into adventure as a reader and more importantly as a writer(versatile)!.

Phew!! Thank you Lord.

Thanks Collines I  finally got round participating in this Challenge.

Gratitude..Mother of all Virtues.

Gratitude, thankfulness, gratefulness or appreciation is a feeling or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one received or will receive…  (WIKIPEDIA)

To take the the meaning further,in acknowledgment of a benefit not only received but also given out.

I started keeping a gratitude journal in 2015,I was at a mastermind coaching program for 2 months and we were ask to start journaling stuffs we are grateful for. Since then the journal has been an integral part of my everyday life, the results has been and still is overwhelmingly benefitial.

At one time my husband and I had a disagreement,i was really hurt and perturbed by, and been a strongheaded person that I am, I was not going to take it light with him. As the feeling of hurt was taking the best part of me that day,I didn’t want that, because the word of God says,’don’t let the sun go down on your anger’. but I was really angry!

I took my gratitude journal and started writing those things about my husband that I am thankful for, I kept on writing, until I forgot my anger. The feeling of hurt was eroded by the feeling of gratitude I felt for having such a wonderful husband, who ofen gets on my nerves, I believe he would say same about me too. 😀

People who practice gratitudee consistently report a host of benefits, If in doubt, check out King David the psalmist, You’ll agree with me that half of the book of Psalms have ‘gratitude’ themes. The benefits of a life and practice of gratitude encompasses all spheres of life.

Let’s take a look at some of the benefits;

*It help build stronger immune system-Your body is not susceptible to disease easily

*You are not always bothered by aches,or pain.I usually experience pains and headaches at times, but its not as it used to be,unlike.

*You are better at taking care of your health, because you are thankful for your physical wellbeing.

*Mental alertness

*Happiness-gratitude induces happiness.

*Higher level of positive emotion is guaranteed.

*More forgiving-You don’t allow hurt to take the best of you, even though you’re feeling hurt, you learn to forgive.

*More Outgoing

*Less isolated or lonely

*Generous, and compassinate with words and in deeds.

Of course there are many other benefits I know you can think of that are not here. You can share some of yours as well.

Gratitude is a relationship strengthening emotion, among couples, parents to children, friends, families colleagues and all others. I remember everytime I commute from one place to another, I am always saying thank you to the cab drivers, even after I have paid for the services rendered. This as become a lifestyle of saying’thank you’ to anyone who does something for me, or vi-a-vis.

grat ny art

The two sides of a coin:

There are two sides to gratitude as a virtue:

*The affirmation of goodness: It doesn’t mean that life is perfect, and everything is all rosy and all that. A life of gratitude does not ignore  burdens, hassles, complaints or struggles, but it helps to see and identify the goodness embedded in those those struggles,or burdens we face and bear.

In all things..Give thanks.

*Where does gratitude stem from? This helps us to recognise the source the source of the goodness we enjoy as being outside of ourselves. If you are spiritually minded like me, you will agree with me that everything we enjoy big or small that helps to achieve the goodness in our lives comes from God. Rom 8;32 says,

He who did not spare his own Son,but gave him up for us all-how will He not also along with Him,graciously give us all things.

Also its important to also acknowledge we enjoy goodness from other people around us as well.

  1. It helps celebrate the present, to savorthe moment.
  2. It blocks toxic ,negative emotions- you cannot feel envious and grateful at the same time.
  3. It helps us to more resistant to stress.
  4. It helps to have a higher sense of worth. I mean I look at myself in the mirror and see the graciousness of God in my life, it helps me to know that I am here for a purpose and that there is more to me, That I am not an afterthought.

Challenges of a lifestyle of Gratitude.

Did you say challenges??? Yes just because gratitude is good does not mean it is easy!

Gratitude, goes against our self-serving bias. Meaning when good things happen to us we say its because of something we did, that’s why we are enjoying the goodness of life. But when bad things or seemingly unpleasant things happen to us we are quick to blame situations, circumstances and people.

The second challenge of Gratitude, it goes against our need to feel in control of our environment, it gives us that sense of accepting Life as it is, and be grateful for what we have.

Cultivating the attitude of Gratitude.

We can all cultivate the attitude of gratitude by

*keeping a gratitude Journal- You can write out at least 5 things you are thankful for on a daily basis.

*Count your blessings name them one by one-

*Go outside of yourself to help others in need , is one important aspect of gratitude that helps one to have the right perspectives to the blessing that others don’t have

In overcoming any problem, it begins with a thankful heart- Don Moen.
