A good messenger cares for the master, the message, the receiver  and the method in that order.

I saw this line from Edmond’s  https:// It so much resonated with me for days that I just left it in my draft. As I thought and mused about this words, and how it is helping me realize my assignment as a purpose -driven writer .(now that’s another word  I am  trying to adopt into my consciousness lately!

One of my focus in 2016 is to begin to  function more as a better writer-God’spokesperson in speaking life to the audience. To see myself as a farmer (metaphorically speaking though 🙂  according to Bob Allen , there are 4 things that farmers do.

blogging1. Cultivate the soil- which literally means learning and preparatory stage of farming- for me that will be  reading, studying, planning, organizing, envisioning. Spending time to know exactly what to write, when to write, and how to write whatever it is I am suppose to write. Play it by ear!

2.Plant the seeds- That’s basically the creation and the distribution of our work product ,for me, my “work product ” is my words in three phases-Sing it,Say it, Write it. singing the words, speaking the words, and publishing the words- words that edifies, inspires, encourages, and most of all bring glory to God.

3.Nurturing the seeds- More or less like marketing, getting the words out there, spreading the message  through platforms like this blogosphere, recording the piece of music, podcast, Create the Youtube channel, so that more eyes can read them, see them, hear them, feel them and connect with those seeds in form of words coming out from you and I.

4. Harvest the seeds- Harvesting for me, will be getting feedback of how the things I write, sing, and speak about is transforming peoples lives all over, Gathering stories all around about the Impact of our work on other people,is something money can’t buy.

So dear friend, there are vacant fields all around us, ready to plant, The soil is perfect, people need what you’ve got to give, it does not matter how many people are doing what you are doing. No one can do it, the way you have have been wired to do it.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us….

Don’t wait till your seed is more perfect, don’t wait for the perfect timing you might end up waiting all your life. Begin to plow your field now!

It is better to see a crooked furrow than a field unplowed. -Paul Jewkes.

2015 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 2,400 times in 2015. If it were a cable car, it would take about 40 trips to carry that many people.

Click here to see the complete report.

Thanks you guys for making it a jolly ride. 🙂

See you in 2016, by the Grace of God.

Overwhelmed…but thankful!

Consider it pure joy,my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2-3

Pleasing the Audience.

It’s a beautiful #MondayMusic&Me. Compliment of the season everyone. I came across some quotes that were centered around the bonding of the musician/singer with the audience and just thought it would be nice to share some of these thoughts with you all.

Firstly, I have found out that majority of singers, including me, starts their career because they love to sing, and although it would be nice to think that every audience will appreciate your choice of repertoire or your style of singing, the reality is that you cannot please everyone all the time!

This means that the vocalist pursuing a professional career, may have to make compromises in their choices of repertoires in order to accommodate a wider audience and accept that there may be times when no matter how brilliantly they have performed, their effort may go unappreciated by some or all of the audience.

I have been in positions such as these, but one thing that has helped me, is that coming to terms with the fact that my music is not just a profession but it is also a calling/ministry. Therefore no matter the tweaking I may want to apply, the bottom line for me is the  audience of ONE-God

As a result of that, I know that even within the comfort zone of Christian circle my genre and style of music is not the widely accepted type, though in the beginning of my career/calling that was a huge challenge for me, but as I am progressing, It is no longer an issue ! (I think). 🙂

I have also resolved that as a professional christian artist, I have to create a balance between showmanship/Craftmanship and pointing the audience to God through my style and genre. Exo 35:30-35.

In trying to hone your skill, and work your craft as a singer or musician, it must be from your heart, whether you get the applause of all or some, do it from your heart. In the words of Howard Thurston,

Long experience has taught me that the crux of my fortunes is whether I radiate goodwill to my audience. There is only one way to do it,and that is to feel it.

You can fool the eyes and the minds of the audience, but you cannot fool their hearts.  Howard Thurston.

And here’s what Ottawa Keyes  says:

When it comes to the requirement of pleasing an audience, all the requirements, instructions and apparatus in the world is worth less than one ounce of soul.

Who ever you are, singer/musician when it comes to the pleasing the audience, know that you cannot please everyone all the time. So don’t let it be a bother when you don’t get all the applauds,or loving or pat in the back. Rather, do what you love with your songs and your music, let it come from your heart. Do it as if your life depends on it, because in actual fact your life depends on it!

When the audience sees the way your heart connect to what you are doing, they will connect with you too……gradually.

To your creative Success,

Merry Christmas.

It’s the Christmas morning. It’s still cold and hazy outside. The dusty Harmattan is at it peak at the moment. That’s how we know we are in the festive season in this part of the world. 🙂

A little recap from the Christmas eve experience. Funfilled galore at the paaty organised by my local assembly,it was time of wining and dinning and catching up with old friends.

Back to Christmas morning, and countless number of Christmas wishes all over the place,so what more can I say?

Merry Christmas to you all,Peace on earth, good tidings of great joy. The real meaning of Christmas is Jesus Christ!

Christ in you,the hope of glory .As we celebrate the Christ in Christmas let the hope glory shine through us to all our loved ones, friends, families and most importantly to those who have nothing to share.

Let this mind be in you as it was in Christ Jesus.

Have a very merry Christmas <3.

Enjoy this.

It is quite devastating to lose a loved one,my sincere condolence goes to Rachel at this time, and to many others out there suffering from the loss of loved ones.

God cares and He will hold you now.

You may never be able to understand why.

God cares and He will hold you now.

God cares and he will hold you now because you are his child no matter what we go through in life.

This is for you RachelAnn, and anyone out there.

Beyond new year resolution 2.

Yesterday I asked a question.

What will you do differently in 2016? . This was the same question I asked myself in January 2015. You see I was tired of writing new year resolutions and not being able  to keep the goals. Before the year 2015,I was reading Stephen coveys ‘ 7 Habits of highly effective people. It did open my eyes to certain truth about myself.

I didn’t want to start 2015 with the usual (‘same ol’ same ol’). what will I do differently this year asked myself, in all honesty it was a difficult question because it required that I really look into every area of my life and decide what to change,do away it,and new habits to inculcate.

That question in the beginning of the year, opened me up to work on self Improvement and focus on Family. Today with just about 9 days to the end of 2015. I can say that I did my Family life differently  and created room for bonding in my marriage and with the entire family.

As regards self improvement one of the major area I focused on was with personal finance- I began to read more books on finance, wealth creation and all that. I must say that it helped me- My personal finance in 2015 is something to be proud of ,I was able to reduce on wastage, and saved more.

Based on the results I have seen in my life,as a result of the question. Here are some tips to finding the alternatives, to making new year resolutions, and sticking to it.

*What is the one thing that you really want to do? That thing you can actually achieve and celebrate when it’s done.

It may be more than one, but the rationale behind this is actually focusing on the needful that will propel you to a greater height,in whichever area of your life.

*Don’t write resolutions without deadlines. Focus on the process that gets you closer to your goals, and give yourself deadlines.

One of things I set out to do differently was in the area of my calling/profession-Music. In the past years of releasing an album it took me 3 years to release my second album, which was released in 2012  due to lack of funds as an independent artist who was not under any label. With the new album project I have been working on, I set a deadline of 1 year, and that funds will not delay.Today the album is almost a wrap and of a truth, funding as not been an issue.

*Be prepared for all that it going to take to see your goals achieved.

You have to be ready give it all your best in terms of everything it will cost you to see the goals becoming a reality. I didn’t want my album project to take me another 3 years like the previous one did.So what did I do? I started saving towards it,and at every point when we needed funds to do what was needful,We got it. wishful thinking will not get you anywhere,If you must make meaningful progress in the coming year. You’re not going to wish it, be ready to make the necessary sacrifice towards the achievement of the goals.

*Work from your personal values.

Sometimes we want to copy others , because we think they have good ideas, only to find out along the line that those ideas are not really in sync with our value system and we give up. If you must make any difference in 2016, you must align yourself to those activities and pursuits that align with your core values and belief system.

Don’t wait for January 1st before you start, start now. Do your appraisals for the year ending and then begin to map out those things that you will do differently in 2016.

Write the vision and make it plain on tablets,so that a herald may run with it. Hab 2:2
