Surprise! Surprise!!

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “RSVP.”

It was my bae’s birthday the first one he would ever celebrate. He never celebrated his birthday while growing up. His parent could not afford the luxury, his childhood memories were not so pleasant. I’ll rather not bore you with details.

I used to fight him anytime my birthday was approaching, because he would always be non-challant about it.Until I got to understand that he didn’t mean any harm he didn’t have a clue because he never had the opportunity to celebrate any.

A few weeks to his 40th Birthday,I called a few friends of ours and told them about my idea of throwing a surprise party for my husband, they loved the idea knowing that my husband  is an introvert, they all bought into it. Preparations began in top gear for this great surprise.

The day came,it was a Sunday we went to Church in the morning, after serenading him to a beautiful “Happy birthday” song. The Church service went well,at the end of the service a few of his friends started trooping in. I had previously told everyone of them that the party will take place around the church premise,so that my husband will not suspect anything.

I got a small space that could sit about 25-30people. It was low-keyed friends and family event.  One of his friends took him took him to the other wing of the hall as if he wanted to show him(the celebrant) something or talk with him. I had planned that with the friend  as my husband was taken away from the church to the other wing of the premise. The few guest around were already seated.

When he got into the room, everybody rose up and gave a boisterous shout of happy birthday,Tears filled his eyes as he looked around and saw people,His mum, siblings, friends and all the food and drinks.  He never knew I was up to anything like pulling off this surprise to celebrate him. It was an unforgettable day for my darling hubby who deserved that  and so much more.IMG_20150215_130634

How very sweet of you! I’m sure your husband appreciated it. 🙂 My husband’s birthday gets pushed aside a bit now because both our sons have birthdays in the same month. Last birthday, I planned a dinner with a few friends at one of my husband’s favorite restaurants. It wasn’t a big celebration, but something to let my husband know he’s still special to me, even in our busiest month 🙂

That is so true Christina, at every given opportunities even in the busiest moments , it is very important to show acts of kindness to our spouses, not out of necessity but out of kindness to express how much they mean to us,I tell you those little things go a long way to strengthen bonds. :). Thank you for stopping my world. I do appreciate it.
